The Bundren family is known for our farmland in the mountains of East Tennessee that has been in the family for over 75 years, but the name became well known in 1978 when Jerry Bundren and his father Agee Bundren created Bundren Farms. They started off with Simmental cattle and with hard work became the largest Simmental breeder in the state of Tennessee. A few years later Mr. Jerry Bundren decided he was going to get Ostriches and expand Bundren Farms into an Ostrich company. He was very successful in doing this, he raised Ostriches which later turned into Ostrich burgers, and they became a favorite in many parts of East TN, he also became the President of the Tennessee Ostrich Company for many years. With these Ostriches he had Great Pyrenees dogs to guard them and keep them in line, and he would have a litter of puppies occasionally.
He retired from the Ostrich company in the early 2000’s, but in 2016 his 11-year-old grandson, Joshua Bundren, came to him with the idea of buying a female Great Pyrenees to breed with their male Great Pyrenees they had at the time, and he agreed to. A few weeks later they bought a Great Pyrenees female puppy, and they began their journey into the puppy business. A few years later Jerry had an idea to buy a Standard Poodle and have Poodle puppies, and Josh discovered Pyredoodles, and they decided to try and breed Pyredoodles. In 2023 they discovered Mini Bernedoodles and now have started selling them all across the United States.
Since that day in 2016 when we decided to buy that dog and have a few pups, we have become one of the largest doodle breeders in East Tennessee and have made countless families happy with a new puppy. Bundren Farms has had many enterprises associated with its name and with the help of a great family, and the Lord it has prospered for over 50 years, and will prosper for 50 more!
